Well, it has been a blur the last few days of differing sports, places to camp, and meeting old friends again. We have ridden with or climbed with Paul and Rebecca from Bend, Diamond Dave from Grand Lake, CO, Jon and Katie, Norwood, CO, and Matt Garza of Telluride fame, oh and Steven Gleason who is on spring break from the 4th graders in Bend, OR. We went to Indian Creek and I got my ass handed to me, so after a rough start on saturday Amanda and I high tailed it back to Moab. We picked up her engagement bike (she wanted a mountain bike instead of a diamond, another reason why I love her) and hit the Slickrock trail to try it out. It was a beautiful day and I watched as she flowed up and down the petrified sand dunes with the beautiful LaSal mountains in the background. The next day we met Katie, Jon, Steven, and his dog Alta at the Sovereign Trailhead. We had a great time riding and catching up but ended up in a sand storm at the end of the ride. This gave us an excuse to eat out at the Moab Brewery in order to avoid a dinner full of sand. The dinner ended with Jon explaining his feelings about many organized religions in the states including the Morman religion. It was fun to watch the other nearby patrons give him dirty looks as he continued his ideas. Nothing got out of hand partly because the beer is only 3.2 percent alcohol in Utah and we reeled Jon in. It was great to catch up with the Sapp family again. Though the picture messages Jon sends me are a little uncomfortable, I always feel at home and cheerful when hanging out with them. Today Steven is up at the Slickrock trail and Amanda is in search of proper desert wear as I relax at The Red Rock Cafe and keep those of you who are at work and bored enough to read this blog up to speed. This afternoon I take Steven on the Amasaback trail, my favorite. It will be a great way to end his short stay in Moab, as he takes off to Aspen tonight. Tomorrow we might ski the new snow in the LaSals or try to get up Castleton Tower in CastleValley. I believe this is the same tower that BonJovi filmed the video for the song that goes "I'm a Cowboy on a steel horse I ride...", of it's "Wanted Dead or Alive". Those of you most affected by this beautiful band should check on this though. Anita, Amanda, Diana, Katie????
